Peyton turns SIX!!!!

I remember a little chubby boy that turned one looking like this and it feels like it was JUST yesterday!
But this year Peyton is six years old, growing tall and lanky and still sassy as ever.  But no longer does he look like the long haired, chubby face baby above...now here he is...
Ohhhhh, it makes my heart hurt to see them grow up so fast.  Just reminds me how fast time is REALLY flying.  I can remember changing diapers for Cheyenne, Peyton and Karcen thinking how nice it would be to have them out of diapers, but now...I'd like to reverse a little while...keep them small and innocent a while longer.  But I guess I can't.  We celebrated on Peyt's real birthday with a snack party with his friends...here's a few shots of them!

Arts and Crafts...and Crying

Here's a little story about how some days go at Nannie's house. Especially when Connor is alone while everyone else is at school....All is well, we've been doing flashcards at the table and I'm making cupcakes for Peyton's snack party while Connor colors...Here he is a happy camper.
So I let him color while I am getting lunch fixed too.  But then he must have decided that he was all done coloring because I hear the all too familiar sound of something being THROWN to the floor.  Connor's notorious for temper tantrums at the table with food, and as it turns out, color wonder markers are no different.  Here he is when I say "Connor, markers are not for throwing, please don't do that" Followed by the last of the 3 markers being thrown while I watch him.  So I take the paper away and tell him "We're all done coloring because you threw your markers".  This is one of  the faces that follows:
Thennnnnnnnnn....I give in...sometimes I can be a softy...and give him one back, see the yellow marker above? Well about 2 seconds after I took that picture, he threw it to the floor and THIS is the face I looked at until lunch was ready.

Yep, I know you want my job....admit it.  It's not all fun and games...but sometimes you just gotta roll with it!

Discovery Place Kids

We took an impromptu field trip today after being inside most of the week to Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville.  Really cool exhibits...my only criticism is that all of them are linked together, meaning there is an in and an out in each area...making it REALLY easy to lose a child who can sneak into the next exhibit super easily...luckily this time I didn't, but one of the moms with us did and there were several others looking too!  We'll go back for sure....but we'll have reinforcements on hand!

Newest Addition to Nannie's Herd

With Aanais' mom changing jobs, I've brought in the next child to become part of our extended family...His name is Collin...and oh my goodness he is a cutie patootie!  He is going to rival Connor in the snacking/grazing I think....every single time I went in the kitchen he was standing at the gate signing "more" and if I came out without food...he started fussing...this could be interesting! :)

So without further ado, I give you...Collin!!!!

He's walking quite well and has at least 10 pounds on Aanais I'd say!

Thumb sucker...how stinking cute :)

The cheeks AND the dimple...oh my goodness - gonna be a heartbreaker!

Funny face...he reminds me of Spanky from the lIttle Rascals :)

New Year's Weekend at the Campground

I spend the New Year's Weekend at the campground and it was wonderful!
Good food, good friends, and just some down time!

Here's Klay and  Katie (who's not technically one of "my" kids, but it was a good picture, so I decided to share!

Klay by the campfire and then thinking of a way to act out his charade

The group by the campfire on Friday night...I absolutely loved hanging out by the fire!
